Wow!  I am super excited to be sharing this post with everyone today.  I had the luxury of picking out this very beautiful new pendant light fixture for our dining room renovation from the good people at Parrot Uncle.  Can I just say I am in love?

Of course after seeing all the lovely varieties of pendant lighting and tiffany lamps they offer, I couldn’t resist reviewing one.  The light fixture arrived on time and very well packaged.  I was also quite impressed with the quality, as all the parts were very sturdy and well made.  Or if you need layman’s terms….there was nothing flimsy to this package!

Now, I have a confession to make.  This was my very first electrical project, and I was just a little scare.  Well, maybe a lot, but only because I did not have a handy multimeter to confirm there was no electricity flowing through those wires.  Once I got past the “I know the electricity is off for sure because I’m still alive” point, I was good.  I did try to ensure my safety by turning off power completely at the breaker box (not at the light switch only) and making sure that the light did not turn on.  However, I do recommend always testing with a multimeter to ensure no current.

Finally, I have repurposed a pair of shutters I have had since FOREVER!  A really nice lady I worked with gave me a pair of shutters and an old window to use for whatever creative purpose I dreamed up, but I was DIY blocked.  I had so many great ideas for what I could do, and I even “blog stalked” all repurpose plans.  Let me just tell you there are LOTS of beautiful projects that you can create with shutters.  I mean there was everything from photo and mail holders, wall decor, kitchen utensil holder, you name it and it has been done!

So, what did I do…

I just love Christmas! It is absolutely my favorite time of the year, and it’s not because of all the presents…even though I’m pretty sure my hubby bought me the sliding compound miter saw I’ve been dreaming about. It’s about all the simple things…like Christmas movies, gingerbread cookies, church plays, parades, tree lighting ceremonies, community gatherings, the spirit of positivity, and of course decorations. So, it only seems fitting that I could show you my budget friendly Christmastime centerpiece…and sneak in some pictures of our local parade.

It’s been a long time, but I can finally say I started my Christmas decorating!  So, today I am sharing a lovely Burlap Christmas tree that literally took minutes and cost hardly anything.  Being that I decided to change my entire theme this year, I have had to literally start from scratch.  So imagine how happy I was to find out that ribbon was on sale for 70% off at Michaels, especially considering I had to buy everything.  Somehow last year's burnt orange and turquoise just doesn’t go with red and green plaid.

So, now that I have finally finished shopping for all the supplies, I am hard at work finishing my overly ambitious list.  My husband actually called me a great “visionary” the other day.  Of course,  he then went on to say “but you don’t always finish what you start.”  What?!  So, you already know what my goal is for 2016…I aim to be a “finisher”!  However, I’m still waiting for my husband to pick up the Christmas tree from the local fire department…that is just a couple of miles from our house…that stays open late hours…but who cares about his “procrastination”?  Ok, jokes aside, back to decorating.

I see these little "cone" shaped trees in all the stores, at a pretty hefty price tag no doubt.  So, I decided to make my own, for a LOT less.  And the best part is this tree is so versatile.  Just simply changing the size of the cone or the ribbon, adding some embellishments, or even a different topper can completely change the look to fit just what you need.

Towel Rack
We have been remodeling our downstairs bathroom, and I am soooo happy to say we are almost finished.  You read the problems we had when we first started…our yucky mold, replacing our drain pipe, part of our subfloor, and toilet flange…and ALMOST calling in outside forces.  We did manage to see it through though, and we couldn’t be happier that we have that project under our belt…and we’re still married…yah!

It's really nice to know that the temperatures are finally dropping (well at least in my area), and fall is officially in the air.  It was very hard to be motivated to decorate during the extreme heat and then let's not forget the unrelenting rains.  All of the crazy weather was not leaving any room for creativity.  So, while the sun is shining and the wind is blowing that cool, crisp breeze, I want to share some amazing rustic fall creations that I have found while browsing my favorite place...pinterest!  I know I have not shared of any my stuff...and maybe that is just because I have yet to put anything up (ughhh!).  However, I have been seeking some motivation and inspiration and think I have found some in these wonderful decor pictures.  Now, I just need to get busy preparing some of my own!
