It is finally time to build a work space for my crafting addiction now that I have officially moved the crib out of my room and have the space.  I know, the crib has been there for four years, but I am letting it go.  Of course, our son has been co-sleeping and has rarely seen a day in his crib, but that’s okay with me.  I don’t think I am quite ready for him to “move out” just yet.  Our oldest will be 17 this month and after realizing how fast they grow up, I am trying to treasure all the little moments I can and not rush anything.  Now my husband may disagree, but…J

Now, back to the workspace!  So, I have been surfing Pinterest for several days now browsing different designs and trying to obtain some ideas for my area.  I was mainly looking for an L-Shaped Desk that would fit in the corner and also offer me some much needed storage.  And just let me tell you there are lots of really cool home office designs out there.  Well, during my research I did find some really great inspiration, and I am already working hard on getting my desk built and installed.  Hopefully I will be showing you guys that design really soonJ  However, I couldn’t resist showing you all the really great areas that I came across during my search that deserved recognition.  So, if you are in the market for a home office area, or a workspace in a predefined space, these may be just what you are looking for to begin.  Be inspired and enjoy!

Saving money often seems like an impossible task, however, I am going to share 8 easy ways you can save money now.  Typically we find it hard to start saving because we are afraid to give up all the things we love.  For me, it’s StarbucksJ These steps will help to save you money now without huge sacrifices.  I personally have saved hundreds of dollars a month using each of these methods, and it has given my family and me so much peace of mind.  It all started about a year ago when I decided that I needed to decrease my work hours to spend more time at home with my family, focusing on what was most important to our needs at the moment.  At first I didn’t know where to start, but by faith and following these steps I was able to accomplish my goal without the budget suffering. In fact, by actually paying more attention to where our money was going, I was able to better to control the flow, and you will too!

lego table with storage
After stepping on Lego’s for FOREVER, I decided it was time to build my son his own Lego Table with storage, putting me one happy step closer towards the completion of my son’s Superhero themed bedroom.  If you remember last summer I made him the really cool Superhero Toy Box, then it was on to the Superhero Wall Posters that we decoupaged onto wood, and now I get to share this really cool Lego Table.  This table is multi-functional with lots of storage for thousands of Lego’s.  First, it has storage both underneath the Lego table top, a storage pocket off to the side of the table top, and a shelf underneath.  The Lego table top is removable and portable and can be carried anywhere your little one wants to take it.  So, they can sit at the table and play with Lego’s or on the floor with the removable tray.  Long gone are my days of stepping on Lego’s (hopefully)!

garage organization shelves
Even though it feels like spring will never get here, I have decided to share some garage organization DIY shelves that would be perfect for spring cleaning.  Whenever that may happen!  I actually installed them in our garage last spring (pre-blog), but they have made such a huge difference in space and storage that I had to share.  The best parts are they are super strong, and they are budget friendly at under $200 for all of them! And we have a lot of them.

So who doesn't love FREE printables? And this St. Patrick's Day will be sure to please. I have always loved the little phrases that have played off of the “Got Milk?” statement, so why should this holiday be any different.

Well, I have never considered myself lucky, in fact I can probably count on one hand (or less) the amount of times I have won anything!  So, thank God for blessingsJ

Call me a nerd, but I love a bow tie!  And if you want to be able to make one of these for the little man in your life, then all you need is some Velcro, a glue gun, and the cloth of your choice.  Yes, you heard me. No sewing required. Well, unless you have some overwhelming desire to do so.  Otherwise, follow these short steps and he’ll be stepping out in style in no time.  Call me biased, but is he handsome or what!

How to Make and Install Wooden Stairs on a Budget
I wanted to share with you our new wooden stairs that we installed around Thanksgiving!  Yes, I know, I’m a little late.  I’m currently recuperating from a minor surgery so hopefully I’ll be able to get even more of my finished projects online to you guys. The bad news is I have a lifting restriction that is driving me crazy! So, let’s get back to the stairs.  We decided to replace our dirty, worn carpeted stairs with wood that we both cut and stained ourselves. I know initially when I wrote transitioning carpet stairs to laminate flooring that we had decided to keep carpet for the budget and kid safety, but the carpet really started to wear down and need replacing, and the kids are getting a little older, so now was the time.  Of course, I didn’t skip out on making it budget friendly.  I literally replaced the whole staircase for under $250.00!  Let’s see how we did it…

how to caulk, caulking made easy, caulk, how to caulk around built-ins, how to caulk around shoe molding
I feel like it has been forever since I have posted anything, but I am really excited about all the upcoming projects I have going on.  I have just been really busy with….well life.  Of course, I rang in the New Year with no voice and a horrible cold, but I did it with family so that was awesome.  If I were superstitious I would think that was bad luck for my year, but I am claiming really great things for 2015.  I am also excited about all the projects I have been working on and excited to get those things out to you guys.

Some things I am looking to add this year are more crafting projects, recipes and organizational posts in addition to my DIY furniture building.  We have five kids, if you count my husband six, so I do have to have some shortcuts in life to make it all work.  I am really looking forward to getting some of those things out to you guys.  I want this year to be a year that I grow in my skills and am able to help others grow in theirs.

So today I want to begin by sharing how to easily caulk around built‐ins, baseboards and shoe molding.  Seriously, a quick and easy way! Of course, after building our new entryway built‐in (which I'm totally in love with), I was left with some little gaps here and there that needed filling.  Why can't walls just be perfectly square?  Anyway, I digress. Caulking makes everything look smooth and like it was all formed together just perfectly.  It is the magical finish to any project.
